Oddly enough, Desiree did not feel very cold in this frozen wasteland. Her vibrant blue gaze stared off to the horizon, where the endless white melted with a winter blue-gray. Soft snow flakes drifted to the ground, some landing on the half demon. When a snowflake touched her creamy skin it did not melt right away, though. It remained frozen, as did all of them, decorating the temptress in the glistening white.
Des shook her head, a cloud appearing before her as she let out a slight huff. Why did she come here? It was not easy to cross, if it was even possible. Not to mention dull. No one could be seen for miles, nothing could be seen for miles.
But then, she did see something. Unfortunately it was just a lone tree, white as the snow and dead as the ground beneath it. With a soft sigh she sat down between to uprisen roots, curling her legs in as she smoothed out her skirts. Might as well sit and rest, she figured.

His feet pounded over the ice as he fled. The old, tattered cloak that hung about his shoulders now fluttered out behind him. Gasping breaths wracked his body as he fled for his life. He had escaped and now ran, blindly, into the icy desert. His feet and hands were numb and his ears and tail were nearing the same condition.
An unexpected obstacle tripped up the half-demon, sending him to fly and land upon his face. Blood dripped from his lip where a tooth had crashed into it, making a small red puddle under his face. Pushing himself up, Bima's blind eyes filled with tears. He was deeply afraid and now was lost in a frozen wasteland. He grasped about in front of himself, looking for something, anything, that would give him comfort. When he felt nothing but air, the tears cascaded down his face, freezing before they could hit the ground. He curled up into a ball on his elbows and knees, sobbing.
For the first time in his life, Bima hated being blind. He could not see where he was or if anything was around him. All he could do to replace his lost sight was listen, feel and smell. He had never hated it until now. He had always believed it was a gift from the heavens, as his mother had told him so many times.

His scent reached her before she saw him. Des opened her eyes, looking toward the young half demon. She stood up, dusting the frozen snow off her skirts, and carefully made her way toward him. She could smell blood and tears mixed with his scent, not to mention a distinct scent of fear.
Now, Desiree was a cruel being, taking pleasure in the pain of others. Rarely did she ever act on it, though. Only when it suited her. At the moment it did not; she had no malicious intent toward the boy. He appeared around her age, though for some reason seemed younger to the half blood.
"Poor little half demon." Des cooed softly, kneeling down next to the lad. "What is it you are so afraid of?"

At the sound of a voice, Bima lifted his head. Frozen tears clung the his cheeks, crusts of salt around the edges. "W-who's there?" he asked, reaching one arm out in the direction that he heard the voice. His brown-grey eyes moved about, seeing nothing.
His ears were pricked forward, listening to her breathing. He had felt the vibrations from her footsteps upon the ice. But if she had truly wanted to hurt him, would she not have done so already? Unless, of course, she was playing with him.
"I can't see you" he muttered, his face set into a desperate expression.

When he lifted his head, the first she saw were his blind eyes. "Ah..." An odd expression crossed her face, revelation mixed with the odd, rare emotion of pity. As he reached his arm out blindly she extended her hand, cold claws lightly touching the back of his hand.
"Easy, young one. I have no wish to harm you." Desiree said lightly, leaning forward slightly. Well, this was certainly different. She had no intention to harm him before, but now she wondered if she could even bring herself to harm him.
"No, I suppose you can't. You can't see anything, can you?" She replied calmly, tilting her head to the side to view him better.

Bima hadn't felt her touch his hand. It was numb from the cold of the frozen desert. Even the tip of his tail felt numbed. However, he did hear her move.
Young one? She sounded barely over his own age. He wiped at the tears with his hand, breaking away the icy cold liquid. "W-who are you?" he asked again. His voice cracked a bit, his voice box clamped by the temperature.
At her question, he shook his head. His silky black locks moved with the movement, trailing over his shoulders. "I haven't seen anything since I was 6" he said softly.

At first she thought nothing of the coldness of her skin. For one she was not concerned with his well being, and for another she was simply used to flesh being so cold. When she did take notice of the unusual cold she decided that this would not be the best place for him to be.
"My name is Desiree." The half blood replied simply. Her gaze flickered to the snow beneath them for a moment. Was she becoming soft? Des certainly hoped not, but then again, showing kindness to only one person could do no harm. There could even be a benefit for her.
"Come, let us get out of the cold wind." She said, reaching out with one hand and gently clasping his. "Stand, I'll lead you."

"Desiree" he repeated to himself, getting used to the name. He may be a half-demon, but he had spent most of his time as a slave to the 'full bloods', as he called them.
He felt the pressure of her hand on his and slowly stood, favoring his right leg. He had bruised his thigh bone when escaping. "I'm Bima" he murmured. Not that it would mean much to her. At least, that's what went through his mind.
His bare feet didn't feel the burn that the cold was making. His tail swayed slightly behind him, helping him keep balanced. The blood had stopped dripping from his lip. It seems that it has clogged up.

She watched him stand up, nodding at his introduction. "Bima." Des repeated, comitting the name to memory. "Come, then."
Once he had stood she took a few steps forward, slowly so she did not rush him. The femme had noticed his favored leg. Luckily the large, lone tree was not too far off and they had reached it in a matter of moments.
The thick bark cut the wind off from them. Des gently lifted his hand to the trunk of the tree so he would know it was there before releasing her hold on him. She pulled off the outer layer of her skirt, leaving the thin lace and silk beneath it, and drapped the fabric over his shoulders.
"Now, tell me what it is you run from."

Bima followed her, limping as he went. He nearly tripped a few times, though caught himself. As his fingers brushed over the bark, a small sensation ran through his fingers. He could feel the dead bark, despite the numbness of his skin.
The dark skin on his back tingled as the fabric was placed over his shoulders. He instantly felt warmer. "I run from the slave drivers" muttered softly. He flinched as he remembered the stinging pain of a thin, wooden rod being slapped across his back.

The femme watched him for a moment, her sapphire gaze unwavering. Then she allowed herself to sit at the base of the tree, resting her back against the large trunk.
"Ah, I see." Desiree replied to his answer, looking up at him. "Well, this far out in the desert you won't have to worry about them." She said, examining her nicely sharpened claws now. Honestly, she hoped the slave drivers were not very determined, it would be quite a pain todrive them away. She certainly did not want to be taken in by them, either.
